Lab Work FAQs
Why were routine diagnostic tests recommended by the veterinarian?
Routine diagnostic testing is used to detect health problems early, often before noticeable symptoms appear. Bloodwork, urinalysis, and other screenings can identify conditions such as kidney disease, diabetes, infections, thyroid disorders, and more. Even if your pet is not ill, getting tested annually at MyVet sets a baseline so that we can more easily detect when something changes.
How long does it take to get lab results for my pet?
Because MyVet has an in-house laboratory, many test results can be completed quickly during the same visit. For those samples that are sent to an external lab, result times can vary, but we are happy to give you a rough estimate.
Is MyVet able to perform specific lab work my pet needs?
If there is a specific lab that your pet needs, we welcome you to reach out to us directly to ask. Even if we do not have the test in-house, there is a strong chance we can collect a sample to send to an external lab.
MyVet’s full-service in-house laboratory provides fast, convenient diagnostic testing for pets in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Moyock, and Grassfield.
